People occasionally ask us if they really need promotional products. Jack Woodlock, from TKO Marketing Solutions, says it best, “Every business uses promotional products they’re just not all aware of it and don’t always take advantage of all the advertising opportunities.” So what’s the answer to why your business needs promotional products? Here are seven reasons.

Seven Reasons Why Your Business Needs Promotional Products

  1. Bang for Your Buck

Promotional products offer some of the best cost per impression of any form of advertising. There are thousands of low-cost, effective products available. And unlike most types of marketing, advertising promos keep working for a long time. “Eight in 10 consumers own between one and 10 promotional products. Fifty-three percent of these people use a promotional product at least once a week. Six in 10 of them keep promotional products for up to two years.” — Sage World

  1. Brand Awareness

Promotional products can be used to help solidify your brand. For example, if I wore a T-shirt with no copy only two golden arches would you think of Mickey D’s? Sure you would. Okay, so you’re not a multinational, multibillion-dollar organization. However, you can build brand in your niche and location, and one of the easiest ways to do that is through advertising specialty products.

  1. Business Exposure

I was at an event and saw several pieces of TKO Graphics apparel, including caps, shirts, and bags. I also noticed pieces of a few of our customer’s SWAG.  We were an associate sponsor of the event and our logo was on some of the signage, but it was all over the place on people’s heads and backs.

  1. Better Than a Business Card

“A few years ago after an event, I had the opportunity to chat with one of the speakers. As our conversation neared its end, he asked for my business card, and then I asked for his. His card was about the size of a standard business car except it wasn’t card. It was a square aluminum bottle opener. I still have it, and I can still read his name, title, and contact information. I don’t believe I’ve ever kept a business card for several years, have you?” — Business card alternatives

  1. Build Customer Loyalty

If you want to thank a customer give them something useful with your logo on it. The more useful the item is and the more they pick it up and use it, the more they remember your business and how you’ve taken care of them.

“Before receiving a promotional product, 55 percent of people had done business with the advertiser. After receiving a promotional product, 85 percent of people did business with the advertiser. Fifty-three percent of the time, promotional products create a more favorable impression of the advertiser. Eighty-nine percent of consumers can recall the advertiser of a promotional product they’d received in the last two years.” Sage World

  1. Bring a Smile to Your Employees Faces

If you want to recognize positive contributions and achievements by your teammates saying thank you is nice, but do you know what’s even better? Saying thank you and then handing your employee something to celebrate and mark the occasion.

“How important is employee recognition? Unfortunately, too many managers believe money is what retains valuable employees. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever resigned from a position to take a lower paying one? If so, money wasn’t your motivation, was it? Was it a lack of recognition, company culture, or your boss? Chew on that one the next time you think employee recognition is overrated.” — The Top 10 Times to Recognize Employees.

  1. Because People Love Them

This is my favorite answer to the question, why your business needs promotional products. People love SWAG; we like receiving it, wearing, and using it. But be careful, people want and like promotionals they can use and items that are well made.

“Seventy-seven percent of consumers say a promotional product’s usefulness is the number-one reason to keep it, with health and safety products, computer products, and writing instruments ranked as the most useful. Wearables are the top product category, followed by writing instruments, bags, calendars, and drinkware.” — Sage World
